Barn Conversion

Sketch

Picture
This new dwelling located in Glenariffe, Co Antrim is to be created by  converting an existing agricultural barn dating back to early 1900s.
Located on a steep incline at the foot of a mountain and within a designated "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" planning permission was gained through PPS21 "Barn Conversions"

Due to its sensitive location and the existing characteristics of adjacent dwelling and farm buildings, careful consideration had to be given to ensure the new dwelling retained as much of its original barn character as possible, but must still meet a balance with modern living. This was achieved by reinventing the first floor rear elevation with a more modern contemporary aspect  glazed facade,  with the main living accommodation and master bedroom being located on this level.
