Disability Facilities Grant

This grant is to help to improve the home of a person with a disability, and may be based on the recommendation of an occupational therapist.  While discretionary grants are currenlty restricted, the Disabled Facilities Grants is a mandatory grant, and is therefore still available towards those works recommended by your Occupational Therapist 

Who can apply for Disabled Facilities Grant?
Owner occupiers, landlords or private tenants can get assistance to carry out adaptations, providing there is a person with a disability living in the house.




Is it necessary to apply for Planning Permission & Building Control Approval?
In some cases Planning Permission and Building Control Approvals will be required, however we can have the application fees for Planning and Building Control wavered in most cases for disabled applications. We can also apply to have any professional fees that will be paid, refunded on approval of the grant by the NIHE
